Alexandria Technical & Community College is seeking a qualified ServSafe / Certified Food Protection Manager (CFPM) Instructor to deliver food safety certification and renewal training through our Customized Training Department. This position supports workforce development by providing high-quality food safety education to restaurant professionals, food service workers, and industry partners across the region.

This role is ideal for an experienced food service professional or Nutritionist who enjoys teaching and helping others succeed in meeting food safety certification requirements.

Key Responsibilities

  • Deliver ServSafe / CFPM certification and renewal training to adult learners in classroom and/or onsite business settings.
  • Prepare and facilitate engaging, industry-relevant instruction aligned with ServSafe curriculum standards.
  • Administer certification exams in accordance with ServSafe and proctoring guidelines.
  • Provide guidance and support to participants preparing for certification.
  • Maintain accurate attendance, course records, and training documentation.
  • Collaborate with the Customized Training team to schedule classes and support regional workforce training needs.

Required Qualifications

  • Current ServSafe Instructor and Proctor Certification (or willingness to obtain prior to teaching).
  • Current ServSafe Food Protection Manager Certification (CFPM).
  • Professional experience in food service, hospitality, restaurant management, or food safety.
  • Strong communication and presentation skills.
  • Ability to work with adult learners from diverse backgrounds.

Preferred Qualifications

  • Prior teaching, training, or facilitation experience.
  • Experience in restaurant operations, food safety compliance, or health inspection standards.
  • Experience delivering workforce or continuing education training.

Work Schedule

  • Courses are typically offered during the day or evenings. Training may take place on campus, at employer sites, or at regional locations.
