Alexandria Public Schools is seeking a highly organized, customer-focused Administrative Assistant to provide comprehensive administrative support to a building administrator. This position serves as the first point of contact for students, staff, families, and community members while ensuring the efficient day-to-day operation of the school office.

Essential Responsibilities
As an Administrative Assistant, you will:
- Welcome visitors, answer and direct phone calls, and provide outstanding customer service to students, staff, families, and community members.
- Maintain office security by monitoring visitors and the building security system.
- Coordinate calendars, meetings, appointments, events, and extracurricular transportation.
- Prepare correspondence, reports, forms, meeting minutes, and other documents while ensuring accuracy and professionalism.
- Manage email communications, incoming and outgoing mail, and office records.
- Maintain student records and databases, prepare reports, and ensure data accuracy and confidentiality.
- Provide administrative support to staff and administrators, responding to questions and assisting with daily operations.
- Coordinate substitute and staff coverage for daily absences and extracurricular activities.
- Assist with internal and external communications, including website updates, social media, digital signage, and school yearbook coordination.
- Monitor office and classroom supply inventories, order materials, and coordinate with vendors as needed.
- Troubleshoot minor office equipment and technology issues and assist staff with software applications.
- Support budget tracking by preparing purchase orders and coding expenses under the direction of the principal.
- Participate in professional development and training opportunities.
- Perform other related duties as assigned.
Qualifications
Minimum Qualifications
- Associate's or Technical degree in Office Administration, Administrative Assistance, Secretarial Studies, or a related field, or
- An equivalent combination of education, training, and relevant office experience.

Compensation
- Starting Wage: $26.10 per hour, with placement based on qualifications and experience.
- Work Schedule: 240 days per year.
