Champion a safe and positive bus environment by actively addressing student behavior concerns on routes and in loading zones.
Partner collaboratively with school administrators, drivers, and families to reinforce behavioral expectations and implement positive behavior interventions.
Serve as a primary point of contact for parents, staff, and the community regarding weather updates, general inquiries, and transportation logistics.
Step into a leadership role by overseeing day-to-day operations and dispatch in the absence of the Transportation Director.
Act as a reliable backup bus driver and dispatcher, jumping in to cover open routes and manage radio traffic when needed.
Ensure strict compliance with all state and federal regulations, including DOT standards, DMV rules, and Clearinghouse requirements.
Maintain critical records, document safety incidents (such as stop-arm violations), and manage onboard video downloads for law enforcement review.
Partner with District Trainers to coordinate new hire onboarding, training calendars, and van certifications.
Assist in coordinating fleet maintenance, scheduling bus repairs, and tracking supply inventory.
An Associate or Technical degree paired with experience in transportation safety and student behavior management OR an equivalent combination of education and related experience.
Communication: Exceptional ability to build trust and maintain positive working relationships with students, parents, drivers, and faculty.
Technical Savvy: General proficiency with Microsoft Office Suite, transportation routing software, and two-way radio systems.
Fleet Capability: Ability to safely operate a school bus, forklift, and plow truck.
Safety First: Thorough knowledge of school crisis planning, driver training standards, and basic First Aid.
(Must be valid or obtainable upon hire)
Valid Commercial Driver’s License (CDL) with Passenger (P) and School Bus (S) endorsements.
Air Brakes endorsement.
TCIT (Trauma-Informed Care/Training) certification.
First Aid and CPR certification.
