Alexandria Technical & Community College Foundation (ATCCF) is seeking a reliable and motivated Part-Time Maintenance Worker to help care for our student housing facilities. This role plays a key part in providing a safe, well-maintained, and comfortable living environment for our residents.

15–20 hours per week, with additional hours during peak periods. Regular hours will take place during the standard workweek, with some flexibility in scheduling to be discussed during the hiring process.

Our two apartment buildings offer modern, fully furnished units. As a Maintenance Worker, you’ll help keep these spaces safe, functional, and welcoming for our student residents.

Responsibilities & Results

  • Report to the Housing Manager, who will assign scheduled tasks and provide direction for unscheduled needs as they occur during the academic year
  • Conduct routine inspections of buildings. Including but not limited to:
  • Lighting, security cameras, and entryways
  • Downspouts, irrigation systems, and building exteriors
  • Maintain organized and code-compliant mechanical rooms, storage, and maintenance areas
  • Perform a variety of on-demand general repairs across the property
  • Respond to emergency situations, such as:
  • Water leaks or flooding
  • Power outages
  • HVAC failures
  • Apply temporary solutions when immediate repair isn't possible
  • Maintain an inventory of frequently used parts and supplies
  • Recommend and coordinate with vendors for specialized services as needed
  • Ensure all buildings meet applicable safety, building code, and compliance standards
  • Provide regular updates to the Housing Manager on maintenance status and upcoming projects

Qualifications

  • Minimum 1 year of experience in building or facilities maintenance
  • Experience in housing or rental maintenance
  • General knowledge of plumbing, electrical, HVAC, and exterior property systems
  • Ability to perform preventative maintenance and track equipment for replacement planning

Physical Requirements

  • Ability to move and/or transport items weighing up to 50 pounds occasionally
  • Ability to push and pull, bend, lift, and maneuver items daily.
  • Ability to work in buildings after ventilation systems have been shut off.
  • Ability to operate motor equipment safely and precisely.
