JOB OBJECTIVES: This social worker position provides social work services in the area of child protection, specifically conducting family and facility investigations regarding allegations of child maltreatment.

Interviews clients at intake, assess needs, provides services, or refers for services as may be appropriate. Conducts complex case evaluations for the purpose of assessing problems, risk, and safety. Develop individualized safety plans with families to address immediate safety concerns. Prepare and maintain case records that meet federal, state, and local statutes/rules. Identifies client situations, which require intensified service and brings to the attention of supervisor for help or referral. Provides child protection services. Provides and assists in providing services to other cases involving difficult or complex social and financial problems. Interprets policies and regulations to clients. Interprets programs to clients, refers clients to appropriate community services. Interprets social and emotional factors to others involved in treatment to clients. Supervises foster home placements. Provides casework services for rehabilitation and care of children. Participates in in-service training and other staff development activities to increase knowledge of social work processes and skills in application to individual cases. Seek court intervention when needed to protect the health/safety of vulnerable children; prepare reports needed for court; testify in court as may be necessary. Implement court orders; communicate verbally and in writing with the families, service providers, other professionals, as well as the court system. Complies with all rules and policies in order to maintain a safe work environment. Reliable, predictable attendance and punctuality. Other duties as assigned or apparent.
REQUIRED MINIMUM QUALIFICATIONS AT HIRE:
Education and Experience A Bachelor’s degree from an accredited four-year college or university with a major in social work, psychology, sociology, or closely related field.
OR
A Bachelor's degree from an accredited four-year college or university with a major in any field and one (1) year of experience as a social worker in a public or private social services agency.
