We are currently seeking a Director of Finance & Facilities, a strategic and experienced leader who will drive excellence in both financial operations and facilities management across the district.


Position Summary:
Reporting directly to the Superintendent, the Director of Finance & Facilities will serve as a key member of the district’s leadership team. This role is responsible for overseeing all financial functions, including budgeting, financial planning, compliance, and reporting. Additionally, the position provides oversight and direction for the maintenance and operational efficiency of school facilities, ensuring safe and well-managed learning environments.

Key Responsibilities:

Finance and Business Services

  • Develop, implement, and monitor the district’s annual budget aligned with strategic goals and objectives.
  • Oversee revenue forecasting, expenditure tracking, cash flow management, and short-term investment strategies.
  • Compile and analyze levy data and provide clear recommendations to the Superintendent and School Board.
  • Provides financial data analysis for buildings, programs, and negotiations. 
  • Plans and coordinates capital purchases for the district. 
  • Ensure compliance with all federal, state, and local financial laws and regulations.
  • Lead and coordinate the annual audit process, serving as the primary liaison with auditors.
  • Review and manage property & liability insurance coverage for school facilities and personnel.
  • Coordinate school elections and reporting to third-party agencies as required.
  • Supervise Business Services, Buildings and Grounds, and Food & Nutrition Services departments, including staff performance evaluations and development.
  • Present at School Board meetings and participate in relevant professional organizations.

Facilities and Operations

  • Oversee the Building and Grounds Department to ensure safe, healthy, and well-maintained school facilities.
  • Develop and implement preventive maintenance programs, and manage major repair and renovation projects.
  • Conduct regular inspections of all school buildings and grounds to evaluate maintenance, custodial, and security needs.
  • Manage environmental safety programs, including material abatement and air quality testing, to maintain compliance and protect occupant health.
  • Chair the District Safety Committee to ensure adherence to all safety policies, regulations, and best practices.
  • Monitor facilities-related budgets and expenditures to maintain financial accountability and efficiency.
  • Determine and prioritize district-wide maintenance needs and requirements.
  • Direct grounds activities and oversee custodial and maintenance functions to maintain optimal facility conditions.
  • Ensure all safety and environmental programs comply with state, federal, and local regulations across district sites and facilities.

Qualifications:

  • Bachelor’s degree in Business Administration, Finance, Accounting, or a related field is required; advanced degrees or professional certifications are a plus.
  • Minimum of three years’ experience in accounting is required.
  • Preferred experience in public finance and school business operations, with strong knowledge of financial policies, reporting, and relevant software systems (e.g., UFARS, SEDRA, MEGS).
  • Demonstrated strong analytical, organizational, leadership, and communication skills.
  • Knowledge of safety protocols, emergency procedures, and environmental regulations.
  • Proven ability to build and maintain effective working relationships with staff, board members, vendors, and the broader community.

 

Compensation Package: 

  • Starting base salary $120-140K commensurate with experience (year-round position)
