JOB TITLE: Housekeeper
DEPARTMENT: Facilities Maintenance
STATUS: Full Time-37.5 hours per week, M-F schedule, Daytime hours of 6 a.m. -2 p.m.
STARTING SALARY: $18.84 hourly
JOB OBJECTIVES:
A Housekeeper maintains a clean, sanitary, safe, and attractive environment for the public and staff in Douglas County Government Facilities by performing routine housekeeping and custodial duties.
- Cleans assigned facilities for the purpose of maintaining a sanitary, safe, and attractive environment.
- General dusting, polishing of furniture, woodwork, fixtures, and equipment. General cleaning of building (offices, public spaces, conference rooms, etc.).
- Maintain floors; sweep and mop hard floors; vacuum and shampoo/clean carpets; use of power floor (carpet) extractor; use of power floor scrubber; use proper procedure to strip and wax flooring, etc.
- Wash, scrub and disinfect restrooms according to industry standards, including handling and disposing of infectious materials.
- Collect garbage/recycling materials. Disinfect garbage cans.
- Wash windows, screens, and mirrors.
- Mixes or blends routine cleaning solutions to proper concentrations as necessary for various tasks.
- Attends staff meetings and training for the purpose of gathering information required to perform job functions.
- Responds to immediate safety and/or operational concerns (e.g. facility damage, vandalism, alarms, etc.) for the purpose of taking appropriate action or notifying appropriate personnel for resolution.
- Secures facilities and grounds (e.g. doors, lights, etc.) for the purpose of minimizing property damage, equipment loss, and/or potential liability.
- Complies with all rules and policies in order to maintain a safe work environment.
- Reliable, predictable attendance and punctuality.
- Other duties as assigned or apparent.
REQUIRED MINIMUM QUALIFICATIONS AT HIRE:
Education
High School Diploma or GED or equivalent education.
Experience
One (1) full time year of previous custodial or housekeeping experience in a commercial setting similar to Douglas County government buildings.
Licenses and Other Requirements:
- Valid Minnesota driver's license.
- Ability to pass and maintain an acceptable criminal background check.
