The primary purpose of the Grounds & Housekeeping Supervisor is to provide administrative and hands-on support to the Facilities Director by directly supervising the Housekeeping and Custodian/Groundskeeper job classifications; developing schedules for coverage for existing facilities and ensuring cleaning of facilities are completed according to schedule and standard operating procedures. In addition to performing housekeeping in their own, assigned area, this position will develop and implement training (train, mentor, and coach employees) and inspect the work of employees under their direction with the result of a clean, sanitary, safe, and attractive environment for the public and staff in Douglas County Government facilities and grounds. Will provide housekeeping coverage in staff.

REQUIRED MINIMUM QUALIFICATIONS AT HIRE :
Required Age
Must be at least 18 years of age.

Required Education
High School Diploma or equivalent. 

Required Experience

  • One (1) full-time year experience supervising others.
  • Experience with conducting proper cleaning techniques regarding custodial, janitorial, or housekeeping tasks in a commercial setting similar to Douglas County government buildings. 
  • Experience in operating and maintaining a variety of tools, equipment, and machines including, but not limited to, commercial riding mower with snow blower and rotary broom attachments, walk behind snow blower, push mower, floor scrubber, floor stripper, wet/dry vacuum, and carpet extractor.

Licenses and Other Requirements: 

  • Possess a valid Minnesota Driver's License or ability to obtain within 30 days of employment a reliable insured transportation to travel to multiple locations around Douglas County, some of which may not be accessible by public transportation.
  • Ability to pass and maintain an acceptable criminal background check.
