Special Education Paraprofessional/Site Assistant

Lakes Country Service Cooperative (LCSC) is seeking a Paraprofessional/Site Assistant to join our team at Lakes Country Academy (LCA) in Alexandria, Minnesota.  This unique dual role combines responsibilities as a Special Education Paraprofessional with school site support duties. LCA is a Setting IV program serving K-6 students with autism spectrum disorder (ASD) and emotional/behavioral disorders (EBD) in a highly structured, supportive environment.

We are looking for someone who is organized, caring, and eager to contribute to both student success and smooth school operations.

Position Details:

• Schedule: 7.25 hours/day, between 8:00 AM and 4:00 PM (as set by site administrator)
• Work Year: 182 days

Key Responsibilities:

• Provide academic and behavioral support to students under the guidance of licensed teachers
• Assist with implementing students’ Individualized Education Plans (IEPs)
• Support daily school operations, including office tasks, communication, and scheduling
• Maintain a welcoming, efficient school environment while working collaboratively with staff

Required Qualifications:

• High school diploma or GED AND
• ONE of the following:
  • 60+ postsecondary credits
  • Associate’s degree (2-year)
  • Passing score on the Paraeducator or ParaPro exam (can be completed within 30 days of hire)

Preferred Qualifications:

• Experience working with students with challenging behaviors
• A positive attitude, patience, and a passion for helping students succeed

Pay Range: $19.75-$24.00 per hour depending on qualifications
