Compass Assistant – After-School Child Care

Alexandria Public Schools Community Education is seeking creative, energetic, and personable individuals who enjoy working with children and families and bring strong customer service skills to our Compass team.

Available Locations and Hours
Openings are available at the Early Education Center and all six elementary schools, with the following shifts:

• 2:15–5:30 p.m.

• 3:30–5:30 p.m.

About Compass
Compass is Alexandria Community Education’s school-age care program, offering before- and after-school care, non-school day care, and summer programming for students in PreK through fifth grade.

This position is a great opportunity for high school and college students seeking work experience, especially those interested in education or child development. Applicants must be at least 16 years old.

Essential Functions
Compass Assistants help plan and lead daily activities that support a safe, welcoming, and engaging environment for children. Responsibilities include participating in activities, supervising children and program spaces, and following program guidelines and daily plans.

Compensation
$14–$15 per hour, with bonus pay of up to $3 per hour in addition to the base hourly rate.
