EMPLOYMENT CONDITIONS:

Full-Time, Unlimited (exempt) May be required to work outside of normal business hours for investigations, supervising student workers, and special events.

Monday thru Friday – 7:30 a.m. to 4:00 p.m. (includes two 15-minute paid rest breaks; one 30-minute unpaid lunch break)

SALARY RANGE:  $30.80 to $45.47 per hour

DESCRIPTION OF DUTIES:

We are seeking a versatile and dedicated individual to take on a critical role as a Safety and Security Compliance Officer. In this position, you will be at the forefront of ensuring the safety and well-being of our students and employees. You will play an essential role in keeping the campus in compliance with safety regulations, environmental health standards, and security requirements. This role will identify vulnerabilities in the workplace and implement safety programs that will ensure a safe environment for all. This person shall also serve as the Human Rights Officer, Discrimination/Harassment Complaints Officer, and the Title IX Coordinator and shall conduct applicable investigations according to the MnSCU 1B1 complaint procedure.

This person reports to the Director of Facilities and Security.

Minimum Qualifications (expected to have to enter job)

  • Bachelor’s degree in Environmental Health, Safety, Industrial Hygiene, Basic or Applied Science, Environmental Science, Safety Risk Management, Safety Management, Occupation Safety and Health, Criminal Justice, Emergency Management or health/security/safety related field; OR two (2) years of professional experience as an EHS Coordinator, Hazardous Waste Coordinator, Occupational Safety Coordinator, Safety or Environmental Training Officer, Security/Law Enforcement Operations, or similar position; OR equivalent combination of education and experience.
  • Knowledge of occupational health and safety and environmental health regulations (e.g., applicable OSHA, MNOSHA, EPA, MPCA regulations and/or NFPA standards and State of Minnesota State Fire and area building codes).
  • Knowledge of FEMA/Homeland Security, Clery Act, and Title IX and requirements sufficient to administer security and emergency management responsibilities.
  • Class D Driver’s License.

 Preferred Qualifications (desired but not expected to have to enter job)

  • Specialized training or certification in Safety, Industrial Hygiene, Environmental Health, Environmental Science, Emergency Management or related field, e.g., Associate Safety Professional (ASP), Certified Hazardous Materials Management (CHMM), Certified Protection Professional (CPP), Certified Emergency Manager (CEM), Minnesota Certified Emergency Manager, Crime Prevention through Environmental Design (CPTED).
  • Three (3) years of experience in conducting safety audits, hazardous waste audits, program maintenance.
  • Three (3) years of experience in occupational safety, environmental health and/or hazardous waste compliance training.
  • Experience conducting inspections, determining compliance with and enforcing adherence to laws and regulations governing occupational and environmental health and safety.
  • Oral and written communication skills sufficient to develop/present training on environmental health and safety issues/policy/practice, develop and write policies and procedures, programs, and reports.
  • Computer skills sufficient to use general office application/productivity software (e.g., computer operating system, e-mail, word-processing, database/spreadsheet, calendar/scheduling, presentation graphics, Internet browser, and search software).
  • Experience conducting investigations of allegations and complaints related to Title IX violations.
  • Experience operating and managing security camera systems.
