Paraprofessional/Job Coach

We are seeking a dedicated Paraprofessional/Job Coach to support our Special Education program at the Transition Center. In this role, you will work closely with the special education teacher to assist students in their learning journey.

Key Responsibilities:

• Instructional Support: Guide and reinforce lessons for students, providing one-on-one or small group explanations of instructions and assignments. Assist with the collection and maintenance of data as directed.
• Classroom Assistance: Help prepare instructional materials and support students during community job coaching, service learning opportunities, and recreational activities.
• Behavior Management: Support classroom discipline and assist in implementing behavior management programs. Participate in crisis intervention, which may include physical restraints as necessary.
• IEP Support: Collaborate with the classroom teacher to assist in implementing Individual Education Plans (IEPs) for students.
• Personal Care: Assist students with physical hygiene needs, including toileting, occupational therapy, feeding, clothing, diapering, and transfers.
• Community Supervision: Supervise students at job sites and during community activities. Drive students to and from work in the school van, ensuring safety and compliance with district guidelines. Address minor discipline issues in accordance with district policies.
• Communication: Maintain daily communication with the teacher regarding student progress, schedules, and problem-solving strategies.

Qualifications:

Candidates must meet the "highly qualified" status as defined by the Code of Federal Regulations. This includes one of the following:

1. At least 60 college credits from an accredited institution.
2. An associate's degree or higher.
3. A passing score on a recognized assessment demonstrating the ability to assist with instruction in reading, writing, mathematics, or readiness skills.
