Custodian

This position is responsible for maintaining the cleanliness, safety, and overall condition of Discovery Middle School. The Custodian will perform a variety of custodial duties, including but not limited to cleaning, maintenance, and groundskeeping.

Essential Functions:

• Perform routine cleaning tasks such as sweeping, mopping, vacuuming, dusting, and sanitizing.
• Strip, wax, and buff floors as needed.
• Respond to emergency clean-ups promptly and efficiently.
• Replace light bulbs and ballasts; conduct minor plumbing repairs.
• Maintain and repair custodial equipment. Assist with major equipment repairs.
• Ensure building security by locking and unlocking doors, monitoring building systems, and maintaining security logs.
• Restock cleaning supplies and manage inventory.
• Prepare the building, Performing Arts Center, and grounds for school activities and events.
• Assist students, staff, and visitors as needed.
• Perform grounds maintenance, including trash removal, snow and ice removal, and landscaping.
• Conduct a thorough cleaning of the entire school during summer months.

Schedule:

• Monday to Friday, 2:30 PM to 11:00 PM during the school year; day shift during the summer.

Qualifications:

• Previous custodial experience preferred.
• Ability to work independently and as part of a team.
• Physical ability to perform required tasks, including lifting, bending, and standing for extended periods.
