Schedule: Full time (40 hours weekly) primarily 9 AM – 5PM, Monday - Friday with some weekends and evenings as needed.

Salary & Benefits: $47,000, 15 days PTO & all Federal Holidays

Description: The Douglas County Historical Society at the Historic Knute Nelson House in Alexandria, Minnesota seeks a dynamic non-profit professional with proven results in fund development, administration, and project management to join a progressive team of historians and museum professionals in restructuring and growing this vibrant local historical society, research center, and museum.

The Administrative and Development Officer will work closely with the Executive Director and be responsible for creating development plans that raise public awareness about the Douglas County Historical Soceity’s mission to collect, preserve, and disseminate the history of Douglas County, Minnesota; facilitate donor fundraising including fundraising events, giving campaigns, and corporate sponsorships; and generally raise revenue to pursue the organization’s strategic goals while managing core administrative duties at the museum.

 

Duties:

 

DEVELOPMENT (65 %)

  • Create and maintain a strategic fundraising and development plan.
  • Develop and manage fundraising campaigns.
  • Build relationships and obtain corporate sponsorships.
  • Work with Executive Director on county, city, and township appropriations asks.
  • Develop and manage quarterly public fundraising events / programs.

 

ADMINISTRATION (30%)

  • Manage membership database.
  • Run sales till in giftshop.
  • Various financial duties per DCHS Finance Policy.
  • Open / Close museum as needed.
  • Manage and direct mail, calls, emails, voicemails as appropriate.
  • Maintain and order office supplies.

 

OTHER (5%)

  • Other duties as assigned and agreed upon.

 

Qualifications:

  • Proven ability to fundraise.
  • Experience with data entry / management & record keeping.
  • Strong written and verbal communication skills.
  • Ability to both collaborate in teamwork and work independently.
  • Experience with project management.
  • Preferred experience with grants writing and grants management.
  • Willingness to get excited about local history!
